During the spring of 2016, eleven McEachern High School Artists qualified for the Top 50 in the 2016 Vans Custom Culture Competition. The shoe manufacturer sponsors a national design competition each year and invites high school students to come up with new sneaker design ideas. Vans Custom Culture was created to inspire and empower high school students to embrace their creativity through art and design. Vans believes everyone should be empowered to express themselves creatively and should be given the tools to do so.
Custom Culture is a national high school customization competition using blank Vans shoes to be customized around specific themes.
McEachern students created designs to meet criteria in multiple themed categories including art, music, sports and local flavor.
Students from more than 2,400 schools across the country submitted ideas, and the top 50 designs were selected to include those from McEachern High School. This is the first time a Cobb Visual Arts program was recognized in the top 50 entries.
