Shallowford Falls Elementary School becomes the latest elementary school to achieve Cobb STEM certification
Cobb STEM certification recognizes schools that provide students with STEM-enriched learning opportunities above and beyond the exemplary practices found in all Cobb County schools.
The Shallowford Falls school community is dedicated to helping students cultivate critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary for future success in STEM related college and career fields.
The milestone represents a three-year collaborative effort by the administration, teachers, staff, PTA, Foundation and community working together to advance this STEM initiative. The teachers committed to STEM by enhancing instruction and stretching the learning process. This endeavor also required STEM professional development for all teachers and advanced teacher certification.
“I am extremely proud of our Team Fox. We have worked diligently together for the past three years to accomplish this distinguished honor,” said Felicia Angelle, Principal of Shallowford Falls Elementary School.
At a celebration of the achievement, CCSD STEM Cobb Supervisor, Dr. Sally Creel, presented the school with an official STEM certification banner.
After posing for a picture with the new banner, Principal Angelle said, “We are excited and proud of our school of excellence and we look forward to working together to achieve our AdvancedEd STEM certification.”
The 2016/2017 school year marks Shallowford Falls Elementary School’s 26th Anniversary.
