2017: 32 MIL. Problems Solved with First in Math!

First in Math is a digital gaming program to build mathematical skills. 24 schools in the Cobb County School District provided the program for their students for the 2016-17 school year. Those students solved over 32 million problems correctly!

The First in Math program has a self-paced component for mastery of procedural skills, fluency and conceptual understanding. The gaming component strengthens problem-solving, reasoning and communication skills.  Cobb students outscored other players in Georgia and many across the nation! We can also boast to having combined school scores that outperformed others schools nationally. Our students solved over 32 million problems!

#1 Fourth Grade Team in Georgia and #1 All Grades Team in Georgia: Mr. Boyles class! There were about 491 fourth grade teams competing and about 2,857 teams for all grades!

#1 First Grade Team in Georgia: Mrs. Kennard’s class! There were about 450 teams competing in Georgia for first grade.

#1 Player for First Grade in Georgia and #5 Player for First Grade Nationally: Zina Achamaja! There were about 10,000 players in first grade in Georgia and about 80,000 players in first grade nationally! Zina solved around 53,000 problems.

#2 Player for First Grade in Georgia: Caylee Preston! There were about 10,000 players in first grade in Georgia! Caylee solved around 46,000 problems.

#3 Team for Fifth Grade in Georgia: Mrs. Robinson’s class! There were 498 fifth grade teams in Georgia.

#2 Player for Fifth Grade in Georgia and #2 Player for All Grades in Georgia: Bayan ElAbbadi! There were about 10,000 players in fifth grade in Georgia and about 58,000 players in all grades in Georgia! Bayan solved around 129,000 problems.

#3 Player for Fifth Grade in Georgia and #3 Player for All Grades in Georgia: Victor Miles! There were about 10,000 players in fifth grade in Georgia and about 58,000 players in all grades in Georgia! Victor solved around 119,000 problems.

#5 Player for Fifth Grade in Georgia and #5 Player for All Grades in Georgia: Rizwan Hogue! There were about 10,000 players in fifth grade in Georgia and about 58,000 players in all grades in Georgia! Victor solved around 99,000 problems.
