The North Cobb – Harrison NJROTC Brain Brawl team defended their Three-Time National Championship status and won their fourth consecutive Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Brain Brawl National Championship Saturday, May 6, 2017.
Brain Brawl is a college bowl styled academic competition, which includes questions on subjects ranging from naval history, oceanography, astronomy, navigation, geography, science, math, sports, and entertainment. It required months of preparation and practice, which resulted in their record-breaking victory.
The Champion North Cobb–Harrison NJROTC Brain Brawl Team includes; Andrew Kelly, Harrison; Tomas King, North Cobb; Dawson Bowman, North Cobb; Jackson Fowler, North Cobb; and Paul King, North Cobb. By clinching their fourth consecutive National Championship, the team again, shattered the championship record. The competition was held at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida and included 23 other teams from all around the country, as far as California.
In order to qualify for the National Championship, teams must place in the top 3 in their region. In addition to placing first in team competition, Andrew Kelly, co-team commander and a senior this year, placed FIRST in the Individual “Brawl Stars” competition, making it the third year in a row that a North Cobb-Harrison Cadet placed first in this individual event. Congratulations again to the North Cobb–Harrison NJROTC Brain Brawl National Champions!
