Rachel Simmons, along with Amanda Stafford, CCSD AT Specialist, presented at the Georgia Assistive Technology in Education conference at Georgia Tech on December 8th, 2017
Rachel Simmons, a preschool and kindergarten teacher for students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing at Still Elementary, presented on embedding visual strategies into the classroom to promote communication and literacy. These strategies have been successful in language acquisition for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Her co-presenter, Amanda Stafford, is a member of the Assistive Technology team for the District supporting the special needs preschool program. She also works with students at the elementary and middle school levels in her role as an occupational therapist.
