Cobb Middle School Math Tournament 2018

Cobb’s first annual Middle School Math Team Tournament was underway April 21! Students’ dedication to team work and creative strategies to problem solving were crucial to success!

On Saturday, April 21, 2018, the CCSD Mathematics Department hosted the first Cobb Middle School Math Team Tournament for students in grades 6-8! Eleven Cobb middle schools participated in the tournament hosted by McEachern High School. Math leaders at each middle school selected five students to represent their school in this district competition. In the first round of the tournament, students competed in an individual event that emphasized ten higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills. In the second round, students assembled for a team event, which inspired mathematical discourse through collaborative work with peers on solving ten challenging problems. At the conclusion of the tournament students received Tournament T-shirts  sponsored by Flanders Scientific and door prizes by ETAHand2Mind. The math department was delighted to offer this opportunity to students in the Cobb County School District!
