Cobb Intermediate Math Tournament 2018

Cobb’s second annual Intermediate Math Team Tournament was underway April 21! Students’ dedication to team work and creative strategies to problem solving were apparent!

On Saturday, April 21, 2018, the CCSD Mathematics Department hosted the second Cobb Intermediate Math Team Tournament for students in grades 4 and 5! Thirty-two Cobb elementary schools participated in the tournament hosted by McEachern High School. Math leaders at each elementary school selected four students to represent their school in this district competition. In the first round of the tournament, students competed in an individual event that emphasized ten higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills. In the second round, students assembled for a team event, which inspired mathematical discourse through collaborative work with peers on solving ten challenging problems. At the conclusion of the tournament, students enjoyed a complimentary lunch courtesy of Cobb EMC and Tournament T-shirts and wristbands sponsored by One of a Kind Georgia.  Door prizes were sponsored by ETAHand2Mind. The math department was delighted to offer this opportunity to students in the Cobb County School District!
