Accelerated Intervention Rocks!
Cobb County School District provides balanced mathematics instruction for grades K-12 which includes foundational math skills, application & problem solving as well as standards for mathematical practice. Our vision promotes students as problem solvers who apply mathematical concepts and skills for relevant and real life experiences.
The mission of the Cobb County Mathematics Program is to provide a meaningful experience-based curriculum, which is engaging, challenging, developmentally appropriate and student centered. The K-12 program provides an emphasis on problem solving strategies, using manipulatives and technology as appropriate, and supported by a variety of resources and assessments.
In Mrs. Janney’s accelerated intervention classroom at Big Shanty Elementary School, students engage in a workshop model with fidelity that includes whole group mini lessons, flexible small groups with Mrs. Janney, independent work stations including manipulatives and adaptive software. Math learning is engaging, focused and productive. Kudos to Mrs. Janney and her stellar math students.
