The FACS class vegetable and herb gardens at Lovinggood Middle School are under renovation with a lot of partners to see it through!
In the spirit of collaboration and promotion of the STEM program, we are adding twelve new raised garden beds for the summer planting season. The beds and planting shed have been designed and built as an Eagle Scout project. The Lovinggood Middle School Technology class designed and printed (on the 3D printer) hydroponic systems for the plants. The Media Center maintained the seed germination process. Many parents and PTSA members contributed time and funding as well. FACS students tested the soil ph., planted the seeds indoors, created the organic, super soil mix, made our compost and calculated the spacing per square feet. Plans are complete for summer maintenance, harvesting, and sampling at our upcoming school-wide STEM night plans. We have sown the seeds for growing minds!
