Pebblebrook Falcons Soar!

For the past two years, Pebblebrook High School administrators have partnered with district leaders to improve educational outcomes for all students through the implementation of  evidence-based practices in English Language Arts and Mathematics. One of these practices is the use of common formative assessments through CTLS-Assess. The goal of common formative assessments is to provide feedback to administrators, teachers and students to improve learning.  Teachers use CTLS-Assess to make real-time determinations of student mastery. This provides teachers with the opportunity to make timely adjustments to instruction based on the data from common formative assessments.  For administrators, the data is used to guide professional learning and the support provided to teachers. The most powerful result comes from sharing this information with students so they can understand their current level of learning and set goals for their desired level of learning.

As a result of this collaborative effort spanning the last 2 years, Pebblebrook High School has experienced gains on the English Language Arts and Mathematics End-of-Course (EOC) tests. The Algebra I EOC pass rate improved from 52% in the 2016-17 school year to a 76% pass rate for the fall semester of the 2018-19 school year. The Geometry EOC pass rate in the 2016-17 school year was 64% and has moved to 77% during the fall semester of the 2018-19 school year. The 9th Grade Literature End of Course pass rate moved from 76% during the 2016-17 school year to a 78% pass rate during the fall semester of the 2018-19 school year. American Literature moved from a 2016-17 pass rate of 76% on the EOC to an 80% pass rate for the fall semester of the 2018-19 school year. Pebblebrook High School and the Cobb County School District are proud of these gains and look forward to continued student success.
