Tapp Middle School Band Students Make Top Chair
The second round of auditions for the Georgia Music Educators’ Association (GMEA) All-State Band were held in early January. Twelve hundred students traveled to Perry, Georgia to compete for a spot in the band. Fifteen students from Cobb County School District middle schools made the band.
The top three scores on Euphonium came from Tapp Middle School: Two eighth graders and a seventh grader. It is the highest achievement for any student to earn a place in the All-State Band, let alone to earn the top chair. All three students are members of the GMEA District 12 Honor Band. These students will perform with the All State Band on February 2, 2019 at the Classic Center in Athens, Georgia.
Congratulations to Tapp Middle School on a thriving band program with such talented students!
