Assessments Can Be Amazing!
Implementing Progress Monitoring with the Early Literacy Framework
CCSD District Personnel joins 18 school administrators and lead teachers to strategically concentrate on foundational phonics instruction, assessment of skill mastery and student progress monitoring.
One-on-one assessments have proven to provide intimate knowledge of students’ mastery or standards to guide teachers’ instruction. The primary students at these 18 schools have experienced personalized student progress monitoring approximately twice a month. One student recently stated, “I love for my teacher to spend time with me when testing, so that I can show her what I have learned”. Several teachers commented on the ability to use the common data to inform instruction and to have a positive outcome on student achievement. Everyone involved in this initiative is excited and positive about the results.
