Cobb County School District hosts the Metro Transition Consortium three times a year.
The Metro Transition Consortium is a group that includes professionals from the Metro Atlanta area who serve students with disabilities in the area of Transition. In Special Education, the field of Transition works to help students with disabilities gain the skills necessary to transition into the adult world.
On February 28th, Cobb hosted the second of three annual meetings of the Metro Transition Consortium. The featured speaker was the new Director of Transition Services for the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency, Dr. Lee Brinkley Bryan. Dr. Bryan has worked for over 30 years in the field of Transition. During the meeting, Dr. Bryan listened as Transition Specialists and Coordinators, along with Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors, shared their experiences with Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) and their perception of its services. Dr. Bryan shared that she hopes to improve VR services for students with disabilities who are preparing to transition into adult life.
The final Metro Transition Consortium meeting of the school year will be held on May 9th from 1:00PM-3:00PM at the Hawthorne Professional Learning Center.
