Fine and Performing Arts Accepts NEW Teacher Leader Candidates!!

Welcome to the Teacher Leader Candidates for 2019-2020!!

Teacher Leader graduation for our fantastic Teacher Leaders from 2018-2019 was held on April 9, 2019 at Burnt Hickory Baptist Church. We had to say CONGRATULATIONS and a fond farewell to Dr. Anthony Bernard (Eastvalley ES), Erika Brown (Big Shanty ES), Emily Cannon (McClure MS), and Paige Dobbins (Davis ES). Selinda Proctor (Griffin MS) represented our band and orchestra cohort. These five teachers proved to be quite a force of nature this year in our TLA endeavors. Each chose a very impactful legacy project to change the course of effective Music and Fine Arts Education for our CCSD students. On the graduation celebration on April 9th, Erika and Paige presented on behalf of our department on their legacy project, which focused on implementing Sensory Gardens in CCSD spaces (interior and exterior). They are also putting together resource materials for anyone in CCSD interested in implementing a sensory garden at their school!!

We also welcomed our class of 2020 that evening! The Performing Arts class of 2019-2020 consists of Dr. Paula Thomas-Lee (General Music, Acworth ES), Paula Jo Powell (General Music, Belmont Hills ES), Megan Martinez (General Music, Fair Oaks ES), Andrew Geocaris (General Music, Rocky Mount ES), Gina Davis (General Music, Mountain View ES), Carla Henry (Choral Music, Lovinggood MS), and Holly Botella (Choral Music, North Cobb HS).
