Osborne High School Prioritizes Climate and Culture

Osborne SOARS to empower students and staff!

Osborne High School finds new and creative ways to connect with students, teachers and families, in order to promote a positive climate and culture across the school and community.

Osborne High School has been hard at work to ensure that students and staff are supported and valued. Since implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Osborne has asked everyone in the school to “SOAR” – be supportive, open-minded, accountable and respectful. With the leadership of administration and the PBIS team, the school community is truly soaring into success.

Continuous professional development is offered to help support culture and climate at Osborne, from teacher led training of classroom management practices, to student focus groups and student-staff collaboration on new and innovative ways to meet the needs of the school. PBIS team members recently collaborated with teachers and students during a professional development training on creating a supporting, affirming, fostering, & empowering environment for the Osborne Community. At a recent parent night, the team shared some helpful strategies with families for the upcoming end of course testing.

The high priority on maintaining positive student-teacher relationships, and cultivating a supportive community of learning, is showing in the numbers. Compared to last year, referrals have decreased by more than 60%, leading to students spending more time in the classroom. With all of these efforts to support students and staff, Osborne High School will continue to SOAR.
