Early Learners Share Their Journey with Sounds
Foundational reading skills build confidence for early readers. K-2 students at Pitner Elementary School are embarking upon an exciting journey on Ooka Island. Ooka Island provides early readers with multiple opportunities to build foundational reading skills- phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension.
Students, teachers, and school leaders from Pitner Elementary School recently shared their learning and adventures through interviews. Over the past 6 months, teachers and students have journeyed on and through Ooka Island to build foundational reading skills- phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. Footage of Pitner Elementary School will be shared throughout the district, state, and US. Cobb early readers are leading the way with phonological awareness as the driving force.
