The Fine Arts Department is pleased to welcome Jessica Espinoza as our new Fine Arts Professional Learning Specialist.
Jessica comes to Cobb County Schools with a myriad of experience in many arts and education areas. Jessica has experience teaching Theatre classes for grades 6 through 12, where she not only crafted and implemented theatre curriculum (including curriculum for Playwriting, Children’s Theatre, Production, & Fundamentals) but also directed and produced playwriting festivals that showcased student writing along with launching a Children’s Theatre ensemble that produced new works for elementary schools of +2000 students). Jessica also taught as a general education teacher in the elementary grades where she integrated the arts, promoted literacy and engaged students through multiple modes of learning. Her certifications include Georgia certifications in Elementary Education (P-5) and Theatre (P-12).
As the founder and curriculum developer for DreamBox Theatre, Jessica has presented at TYA USA Conference on “Bilingual Theatre with Classroom Students”, has written scripts and lyrics for over 10 Educational Theatre STEAM Musicals (addressing K-5 science & ELA standards), designed STEAM curriculum that accompanies each educational musical, and has designed and directed an international Summer Arts Program in San Miguel Allende Mexico.
Jessica also comes to us with an extremely strong background in arts integration. While working as an arts integration specialist, she designed and facilitated professional learning services for teachers in school communities in over 20 counties in Georgia. She also worked as an instructional coach for ongoing district-wide education projects focused on arts integration & STEAM (supporting teachers with developing and authoring STEAM modules and units). She worked collaboratively with Atlanta organizations (GA Tech CEISMC, SCAD, Alliance Theatre, Young Audiences, High Museum, Atlanta Coalition for the Arts, Zoo Atlanta, Cobb Energy Centre’s Arts Bridge, & multiple school districts). She has developed and lead trainings on topics such as STEAM, Differentiation, Project-Based Learning, & Artful Thinking Routines while creating workshops for adult learners around the various art forms (Theatre, Dance, Visual Arts, Music & Digital Arts). Jessica also has worked with school instructional coaches and administrators to create professional learning implementation plans. She provided support for documenting research in teacher growth and how this analysis impacts student achievement data.
Jessica has also been a presenter for annual Foundational Training seminar for ArtsNow participating school teams, and she has been the Lead Instructional Coach for the following grant projects:
