Cobb’s third annual Intermediate Math Team Tournament was underway Saturday, May 4, 2019. The CCSD Mathematics Department hosted the second Cobb Intermediate Math Team Tournament for students in grades 4 and 5! Thirty-eight Cobb elementary schools participated in the tournament hosted by McEachern High School. Math leaders at each elementary school selected four students to represent their school in this district competition. Student’s dedication to team work and creative strategies to problem solve was apparent! In the first round of the tournament, students competed in an individual event that emphasized ten higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills. In the second round, students assembled for a team event, which inspired mathematical discourse through collaborative work with peers on solving ten challenging problems. At the conclusion of the tournament, students enjoyed a complimentary lunch courtesy of Cobb EMC and received “May the Fourth Be With You” Tournament T-shirts.  Door prizes were sponsored by ETAHand2Mind. The math department was delighted to offer this opportunity to students in the Cobb County School District!
