Riverside Primary ROCKS with PBIS to ensure success for early learners.
Riverside Primary is focused on creating a positive learning environment by teaching their students how to “ROCK” their behavior – be Respectful, be Outstanding, be Cooperative, and be Kind. Staff organized a pep rally to introduce ROCK to students, and had a special appearance from the talented Pebblebrook High School band. Every day, teachers make it a priority to teach prosocial skills and use consistent language across the school to ensure our earliest learners are given the tools to be successful both behaviorally, socially, emotionally, and academically. Students demonstrating ROCK behavior are recognized by staff for their appropriate behavior, which promotes positive staff-students relationships and encourages positive behavior.
Riverside Primary is a school that implements Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS is a preventative and proactive framework that establishes a common language for all stakeholders and emphasizes expectations by teaching and acknowledging appropriate behavior. This ensures a learning environment where students feel safe, supported, and value.
As they put modeling and teaching at the forefront, Riverside will continue to be a welcoming environment for students first experiencing school.
