South Cobb High School had a vision to serve students six days a week.
In partnership with the Personalized Learning Department, they embarked to use GradPoint as a tool for Grade Repair to give students who had struggled on their most recent test the opportunity to master the standards they struggled on and repair their test grade.
South Cobb launched its first S.O.A.R Saturday (Student Opportunity for Academic Recovery) on November 2nd, 2019 with 47 Students attending. The third S.O.A.R Saturday was held November 16th, with over 100 students attending. Students receive support through GradPoint with a certified content area teacher in Math, Science, and Social Studies there to serve them as well. After the intervention grades are reported to teachers and students are assigned credit based on lessons completed at SOAR Saturday. Providing this academic intervention helps to boost South Cobb students’ confidence in their ability to master content and bolster their commitment to academic excellence.
