2020-2021 Change Agent Lab: Gamification of Learning
The goal is to develop teacher leaders through gamification that fosters an engaging and rewarding learning experience.
Excitement is buzzing as this year’s Teacher Leader Academy (TLA) will start with the launch of an innovative gameplay experience! Gamification, in this instance, refers to the application of game dynamics and mechanics into professional learning for teacher leader development.
In a strategic collaboration, Cobb joined forces with the game developers at the iSchool Initiative to create a gamified approach that offers an innovative solution to address our current instructional environment. The mission of this collaboration is to create an educational ecosystem that develops students, teachers, and administrator’s ability to solve problems.
The Cobb Teacher Leader Academy Game is a self-paced, gamified approach to help teacher leaders level up and earn achievements as they develop new leadership skills. The game also provides teacher leaders a place to develop and refine their Legacy Projects. The honeycombed shape of the gameboard includes tiles with a specific purpose for learning. Throughout the year, teacher leaders will engage in a balanced combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning that will include multiple opportunities for collaboration.
The goal is to develop teacher leaders through gamification that fosters an engaging and rewarding learning experience. The combination of digital interaction and collaboration will have an important impact on the productivity of this group.
2020-2021 promises to be a year of new challenges, and the CTLA Class of 2021 will not only be prepared to meet those challenges, they will be change agents that transform challenges into meaningful opportunities.
