Lost Mountain Teacher to Lead the Georgia Council for the Social Studies.
Jennifer Dawson, a sixth grade teacher at Lost Mountain Middle School, is the president elect of the Georgia Council for the Social Studies (GCSS). The Mission of GCSS is to advocate for, support, and celebrate the advancement of quality social studies teaching for Georgia students. GCSS was established in 1963 and its goals have remained the game—to prepare students to be knowledgeable and engaged citizens in a globally interdependent world.
About Ms. Jennifer Dawson
Ms. Dawson lives social studies! She teaches Modern World Studies (Europe, Latin America, Canada, and Oceania) primarily to gifted and high achieving students at Lost Mountain Middle School. She has served on the Board of Trustees for the Georgia Council for the Social Studies (GCSS) prior to her election as president of the organization.
Ms. Dawson is an outstanding educator and is a former Cobb County School District Teach of the Year, a Georgia Teacher of the Year finalist, former State School Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Board member, part of Teachers for Global Classrooms Fellow, and a Project Archaeology Master Teacher. We are fortunate to have Ms. Dawson who know that Cobb is the best place to teach, lead, and learn!
