Two Cobb Middle Schools Win the Stock Market Game for Our Congressional District

The Georgia Council for Economic Education Recognizes Cobb Students.

Congratulations to Palmer Middle School and Dickerson Middle School!

Palmer and Dickerson Stock Market teams were the highest scoring middle schools in our entire Congressional District.  The Georgia Council for Economic Education recognized Dickerson and Palmer students and their team advisers on December 16, 2020.

The Stock Market Game is an online simulation coordinated in Georgia by the Georgia Council for Economic Education and operated nationally by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association Foundation for Investor Education.  Teachers across Georgia and the U.S. use the game to demonstrate how the private enterprise system works to students in grades 4-12.

Linda Quinn, adviser to Palmer students, notes that her students are engaged and having fun while learning.  “The Stock Market Game helps my students develop positive money habits and sets them up for future success,” Quinn stated in a recent interview.  Brandon Whitmore, adviser to Dickerson students, adds “Looking at 2020 and the difficulties that we were going through, I noticed a significant lack of opportunities for students to feel connected to each other…It was a perfect year to jump in the game because the stock market was rapidly changing…it turned out to be fun and informative for both the students and myself.”

Overall, Cobb fielded over 118 teams with more than 475 students participating at 8 different schools.  For more information on the Stock Market Game, contact
