CCSD Music Educators Engage in a Wonderful Day of Professional Learning

Four Renowned Educators Share Strategies for Engagement.

On January 5, 2021 directors from the CCSD Band and Orchestra programs worked with four nationally-known educators and clinicians on strategies for student achievement, program advancement, and social-emotional learning.

On January 5, 2021 the Cobb County School District Band and Orchestra directors were joined by four wonderful clinicians and presenters for the Cobb County School District’s Winter 2021 Learning Engagement Institute.

Dan Morrison, Director of Bands at Ronald Reagan High School in San Antonio, Texas hosted a wonderful session focused on work and personal motivation, happiness, and satisfaction in the demanding profession as an ensemble director. Our orchestra teachers worked with Rosie Riquelme from Collins Hill High School on digital tools and using them in our CCSD orchestra classes.

Clayton Colwell, a professional composer and educator based in Arizona, shared techniques and strategies for implementing composition in band and orchestra ensemble classrooms. And finally, Darcy Williams, a nationally recognized music educator based in Leander, Texas, shared strategies for program development, synchronized instruction, and increasing student achievement and engagement in our current environment.

We are so thankful to these wonderful professionals for sharing their time, expertise, and energy with us! We can’t wait to pass these lessons on to our students and communities!
