Two Cobb County General Music Teachers Share Their Knowledge and Love of Music with a Neighboring District.
Paige Dobbins from Davis Elementary and Dr. Michele Sampson from Addison Elementary presented valuable knowledge for successful teaching in the elementary General Music classroom on January 4, 2021. The focus was on maintaining musical integrity and successful teaching during these challenging times with teaching virtually as such a large part of the musical day.
Through Zoom, Paige and Michele presented to sixty-five elementary General Music teachers in the Atlanta Public Schools system, and they shared best practices and tips on how to set up the classroom for F2F and virtual instruction. They also discussed strategies for incorporating and engaging virtual and F2F students simultaneously. They highlighted useful instructional resources and tried-and-true methods for instrument care and cleaning. It was super fun!!
As they delivered the workshop, Paige and Michele spoke to all Atlanta Public Schools elementary General music teachers about several talking points. Paige Dobbins also set up half of her classroom with student instrument kits and left the other half with only the student spots for assigned sitting so the Atlanta Public Schools Music teachers could see how to space the students and maximize the use of instruments.
The teachers in the session found this workshop and information very encouraging as they moved into second semester. They shared that they could visualize the set up to help them tailor instruction for the needs of their individual school.
Many thanks and CONGRATULATIONS to Paige Dobbins and Dr. Michele Sampson!
